NNZA: Assessment of pyrolysis performance of CHIcken manure in a Pyrolyser for Sustainable Energy conversion and Net-Zero Applications (CHIP-SENZA).

Project Lead: Dr Shivaprasad Vijayalakshmi

Institution: Durham University.

Partners: Hybrid Gasification Ltd.

Amount: £ 54k

Scheme: Commercialising Innovation

Theme/Area: Low Carbon Energy Generation/Bioenergy.

Brief Description: This project assesses the suitability of chicken manure as a feedstock for pyrolysis using a TRL 6, 20 kg/h demonstrator pyrolyser developed by Hybrid Gasification Ltd. The study will evaluate poultry waste as a sustainable resource for the production of hydrogen-rich syngas and biochar. By valorising chicken manure through advanced thermal conversion, the project supports the advancement of low-carbon waste-to-energy technologies, reduces reliance on land disposal, promotes circular resource use, and contributes to the UK’s transition to a net-zero carbon economy.
