NNZA: Decarbonisation of data centres using novel thermochemical technology.

Project Lead: Dr Huashan Bao.

Institution: Durham University.

Partners: Carbon-Z, AtkinsRealis, Durham County Council.

Amount: £ 54K.

Funding Type: Commercialising Innovation.

Theme/Area: Energy Storage and Distribution/Thermal Energy Storage.

Brief Description: This project aims to demonstrate a Tri-generation Recovery Efficient Energy Storage (TREES) system for low-grade heat recovery and reuse benefits in data centres, optimising energy use and sustainability. It will validate results for commercialisation, develop market strategies, and advance TREES to TRL6 for on-site pilots. This foundation will support a Durham University spin-out and economic growth in the Northeast.
