NNZA: Energy dense supercapacitors using a novel electrode material

Project Lead: Dr Shayan Seyedin

Institution: Newcastle University.

Partners: No External Partner at this time due to IP protection considerations.

Amount: £ 29k

Scheme: Ideas Translation.

Theme/Area: Energy Storage and Distribution/Chemical Energy Storage.

Brief Description: Supercapacitors are safe, cost-effective, and durable but have lower energy densities than lithium-ion batteries. PI’s new MXene electrode material offers ~10 times higher capacitance than traditional carbon electrodes. This project aims to develop proof-of-concept supercapacitors with MXene for high energy density applications, meeting market needs for high-performance energy storage.
