NNZA: The adoption of unsupervised learning techniques to cluster second-life EV batteries for PV solar and wind energy storage systems.

Project Lead: Mohsen Naqvi

Institution: Newcastle University.

Partners: No External Partner at this time due to IP protection considerations.

Amount: £ 30K

Scheme: Ideas Translation.

Theme/Area: Energy Storage and Distribution/ Batteries.

Brief Description: The aim of this project is to apply existing knowledge on unsupervised learning and distributed control system to utilize the residual energy storage capacity of retired (second life) batteries from electrical vehicles (EVs). It will also avoid the premature recycling of batteries; thus, it reduces the requirement of fresh mineral extraction, refining and manufacturing processes.
