With awards of up to £65,000, the Projects Workstream supports the commercialisation of innovation and the development of high-value partnerships that drive economic growth and Net Zero delivery. From accelerating technologies and policy solutions to building strategic collaborations with organisations inside and outside the region, these schemes provide a powerful opportunity to transform expertise into measurable outcomes and regional benefit. Applicants are encouraged to review the guidance and identify the scheme best suited to their idea

Commercialising Innovation ​(Consortium) 

  • For projects working with regional partners in the North East, Teesside and Humber.
  • TRL/MRL/SRL (5-6) technology demonstration, policy deployment, licensable technology, spin-out opportunity, or new products/processes (to the market/external collaborator).
  • The majority of partner leverage must come from partner organisations within the region.
  • Awards up to £55k, duration 12 months

Commercialising Innovation ​(Collaborative) 

  • For projects working with partners outside the North East, Teesside and Humber. Designed to bring external expertise, markets and investment into the region.
  • TRL/MRL/SRL (5-6) technology demonstration, policy deployment, licensable technology, spin-out opportunity, or new products/processes (to the market/external collaborator).
  • The majority of partner leverage must come from partner organisations outside the North East, Teesside and Humber region.
  • Awards up to £55k, duration 12 months

Fostering Partnerships (Consortium) 

  • Higher value projects designed to engage with our Partners, and which do not directly seek to commercialise an idea/innovation.
  • Supports the development of strategic partnerships with organisations across the North East, Teesside and the Humber region.
  • Partner-led/university-led strategic projects/activities targeting sectoral economic growth through policy development, market assessments, and skills/capacity building.
  • The majority of partner leverage must come from partner organisations within the region.
  • Awards up to £65k, duration 12 months

Fostering Partnerships (Collaborative) 

  • Higher value projects designed to engage with our Partners, and which do not directly seek to commercialise an idea/innovation.
  • Partner-led/university-led strategic projects/activities targeting sectoral economic growth through policy development, market assessments, and skills/capacity building.
  • Supports the development of strategic partnerships with organisations across the North East, Teesside and the Humber region. Brings new expertise, networks and opportunities into the region while creating nationally significant collaborations.
  • The majority of partner leverage must come from partner organisations outside the North East Teesside and the Humber region.
  • Awards up to £32.5k, duration 6 months
